sheds light on

Activity: i found a web page where they put an article and i had to anser the following questions

  1. Guessing from context, what do you think "sheds light on" means in the title of the article?
  2. What do the different colors represent in the brain scan picture?
  3. What were the results of the MRI scans?

People who learned a 2nd language as children used the same area of the brain to process language as those who learned as adults.
Those who learned as children used different areas of the brain than those that learned as adults.
Those that learned as children used one area to process both languages, while adult learners used different areas for each language.

  4. How does the MRI help brain surgeons?
  5. What is the "map" that the article refers to?
  6. True or False: The study shows conclusively that children learn language more easily than adults do.
  7. Do you think children learn languages more easily than adults do? Why or why not?
my answers were: the light in the brain, yellow, orange and red, 3, 3, map of the brain, false, i believe that children learn easily because they get use to the languaje.

Reflection: it was very funny because i never thought that my brain could be tested in that way and i really don't know if mine will get orange or red and yellow because i started learning english when i was six but i just star to talk in english when i was 12.

A Halloween Journey

Activity : i listen to a story and fill the spaces whit the ansewer acordin to what i hear

Halloween can be a dangerous time to travel, if you're on your own.

I learned this several long years ago, having just hopped onto a train late one chill and stormy Halloween evening for a brief but important journey through the deserted middle part of our country.

After taking a seat near the rear of what I at first believed to be an otherwise unoccupied car, I removed a from my bag -- a novel by a purple-prosed horror writer much given to using capital letters and a lot of exclamation points -- and was just about to settle in with the hope of finding some sort of dreamy escape from the ills of real when the conductor padded down the aisle so quietly that he was almost upon me before I saw him.

"Tickets, please?" he said in a rather ragged voice that he barely raised above a whisper.

I was to see that in addition to the usual blue uniform and dark conductor's cap he was wearing a black cat mask that sported long dark whiskers on either side of his neatly sculpted feline nose. He took my ticket in his thick-fingered paw, paused a moment, and said, "And who are you supposed to be?"

But I was not in the for Halloween antics. "Just a traveler," I said wearily.

The answers to the blancs are book, life, shocked and mood

Refleccion: this was very interesting because i hat to listen very carefull to the story to make it work

Delayed

Delayed
My friends usually the delayed queen because I ’m always late for everything
Benign delayed is a very common thing for me because I go by bus and it makes me get a little late, there are some other times that I really try to get early but there are some other things that makes me get late.
There are some places that a know that i shouldn't be late like the school or the theater because i know that if i get late they don't let me get in.
But for a party getting late is almost a requirement because if you go at the time that the invitation said not even the planers are going to be there.
It is a Mexican custom to get late to everywhere and it's hard to fight against that but I learned that getting on time to everywhere is very important and it's a way to show respect to the others.

I was looking some old news and I found something that shock me.
A "mother" (China Arnold) was convicted to life in prison for killing her month-old daughter by burning her in a microwave oven. She was found guilty afther three years of investigation.
Prosecutors said that she put her baby intencionally in the microwave afther fithing whit her boyfriend about she been unfaitful to him. China's cell mate testified that she confes that she put the baby in the microwave and when she ask china how she do it she said that the baby fit well on the microwave.
I was really shocked the very fist time I read about it because I couldn't believe that a mother could do something like that.

Reflection: this activity was very interesting becuse I practice my writting skils but also i learn about doing resech on the internet

journal 3

Hi everybody it's me again with a journal activity.

Today I was talking whit a friend she told me that some of their teachers heated her and she said a phrase like "the teachers won't feed me, but they give mi grades" and I told her that one day that grades are going to feed her she disagree whit me and I explain her that whit out the grades you are not able to get your degree papers that are your presentation on every where you want to work.

I believe that grades are important but the thing that really matters me is about learning and using your knowledge for good things and sharing it with others.
What do you think grades are good for? Write me a commentary with your answer

The story song

Activity: first I listened a song and I wrote all I understand then I search the lyrics and read it finally I compare what I wrote on the first part with the things that the song actually said.
This is what I first wrote about the song:
She have been through a lot of things, it implies that she have been successful because she had done a big amount of things but she needs to share what have really happened and the only one that can understand the story is him because she feel that they have been created to be together
Reflection: I was very pleased that almost a big part of my paragraph about the song was right but after I read the song I realized that I was mistaken on some words.

Journal 2

Hi! this is my second journal and i fell like I have nothing to talk about but I will try.
Let’s talk about buses.

When I was little I thought that taking a bus was the most exiting experience ever. All the new views, I’m very short so I filed like I was the Queen of the world.

I grow and I used to spend about 3 hours every single day but now I spend about an hour and a half in buses every day, the ones that spend about the same amount of time in buses can understand me when I said that a bus is a part of your home you can do almost everything in the bus, things like homework, make up, listen to music, read a book, eat, talk by telephone or just try to relax.

The bus it’s not longer a exiting experience now is a part of the everyday routine. So try not to laugh when you see a little kid exiting about taking a bus just remember your self a few years ago.

Geert Hofstede's research

Inside our self we might think we are all the same. But for those who work in the business industry is amazing how different cultures are. This is very important to understand because we make decisions based on how we operate in our country.

The Geert Hofstede's research can help us to understand how to interact whit other cultures reducing the level of frustration, anxiety, and concern.

He made a research in sixty seven countries and he classified they results on four different categories:
A) A) Power Distance Index it talks about the degree of equality, or inequality, between people in the country's society.
B) Individualism (IDV) focuses on the degree the society reinforces individual or collective achievement and interpersonal relationships.
C) Masculinity (MAS) focuses on the degree the society reinforces, or does not reinforce, the traditional masculine work role model of male achievement, control, and power
D) Uncertainty Avoidance Index (UAI) focuses on the level of tolerance for uncertainty and ambiguity within the society

There are many disadvantages of Geert Hofstede's research because he generalize all the people of the country, and one important thing of the culture is that everyone is diferent.

He made a quantitative research this means that he classified a culture just by the numbers he got.
This research shouldn’t be apply literally in all the circumstances you should interpreter the research in a specific situation.

Reflextion:
I think is very interesting to understand the differences between countries because it will let you make better decisions and feel more confidence on what are you doing.
